Registration: FAQ
Q: How can I register?
A: In our effort to run a “green” race, all entrants are encouraged to register electronically. By completing the form linked in the registration tab and continuing to the payment form hosted by PayPal, you can reserve your place in the Bucks County Half-Marathon. You can also register at our packet pick up on April 14, 2012, or even on race day on April 15, 2012.
Q: How do I register on race day?
A: Just show up to the start line by 7:00 AM. In our effort to start the race on time, we will be unable to accept any race day registrations after 7:30 AM. If you register on race day, you will not be guaranteed a shirt and medal.
Q: What does my registration go towards? How is the race priced? Why does the race get more expense?
A: Your registration fee is used to cover the cost of electronic timing, race shirts, medals, food, custom bibs, trophies and plaques, permits, medical staff, insurance, venue costs, and insurance. It is much cheaper for us to produce the event for runners who register early since we can secure early pricing on their medals, shirts, timing, insurance, etc. We encourage all runners to register as early as possible. The official 2012 pricing schedule is below.
Pricing:
$54 till January 1, 2012
$64 from January 2, 2012 - March 1, 2012
$74 from March 2, 2012 - April 10, 2012
$84 Packet Pickup and Race Day if available
Note: Packet Shipment will not be available after March 25, 2012.
Q: How do age divisions and awards work?
A: Age divisions are split into under 18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Divisions are also divided by gender. The top three winners of each age division will receive an award the morning of the race to honor his or her victory. The overall three top male finishers and female finishers will also receive awards.
Q: What happens after I register?
A: After you register, just sit tight until March, 2012. Come March, you will receive periodic messages regarding race day. The day before the race, stop by our packet picket at the Newtown Athletic club to pickup race materials and ask any last minute questions. Finally, make your way to Tyler Park by 7:00 AM and enjoy a fantastic run! If you need help training, you can join our free weekly training groups in Tyler State Park starting in December.
Q: What if I can’t make packet-pickup?
A: We know not everyone can make it to our expo. Therefore, we can mail your bib to you the Monday before the race for $12. Be sure to request “mail my packet” on your registration.
**Please note. After March 20th There will be no more race refunds given, no exceptions.
The Course: FAQ
Q: Is the course certified?
A: Yes, the course is certified at 13.1 miles by the United States Track and Field Association. Our certification code is PA10004WB.
Q: Will the course be marked?
A: Our course will be marked with a continuous chalk line so runners know at all times that they are going the right way. All turns will also be marked with chalk as well. Each mile will be clearly marked with a mile marker. At areas that could cause potential confusion we will have stationed course marshals. We require each marshal to run the course at least twice before race day, so they will be able to help you with any question you may have about route.
Q: Will there be beverages and restrooms on the course?
A: There will be a rest stop positioned at every mile. Every station will have both water and gatorade available in paper cups. Each station will be manned by helpful volunteers to hand you your water as you pass. There will be restrooms available at the start/finish area in the ration of fifty toilets per runner. Because of the nature of the course, runners will pass these restrooms at mile 8. As well, there are restrooms available near the bridge, which runners will pass at mile 1.75 and mile 4.5. Depending on participation, we may provide toilets at other locations along the course.
Q: What’s the course itself like? Is it hilly?
A: The course is a beautiful modified double loop through one of the prettiest state parks in the United State. The roads are all paved and wide enough to provide you with a safe run. Having said that, the course is challenging. Tyler Park has gradual rolling hills that make for an enduring run. However, the hills are not vertical and are within the realms of even beginner runners. To get a better sense of the hills, we recommend you join our free training group for a run in Tyler Park starting in December to get a better feel for the terrain of the park.
Q: Is there a time limit?
A: There is a 4 hour 30 minute time limit or roughly a 19 min/mile time limit imposed on all runners/walkers. At this point the official time clock will stop.
