Welcome to the second annual Bucks County Half-Marathon.
Going into our second year, we are excited to provide our runners with a safer, more fun, and more enjoyable event. Our race is scheduled for April 3, 2011 at 8:00 am in Tyler State Park in Newtown, PA.
We know that some runners were disappointed with a few aspects of our race last year and are extremely sorry that we did not meet the expectations of those participants. However, using our experiences from last year’s event, we are excited to introduce a series of exciting new innovations to improve the race for our second year, including:
-RESTROOMS: To make sure every runner can use the restroom before the race, we will operate on a ratio of one restroom per fifty runners. This ratio is unprecedented in the racing community. To give you a clue of how many restrooms that is, consider that a major city race such as Broad Street operate on a ratio of 1:125.
-COURSE MARKING: To ensure that no runner ever feels lost, we are using new biodegradable chalk technology to mark the course with a continuous line for all 13.1 miles. At any point, you will be able to look down at the ground and make sure you are on course heading in the right direction. We will use chalk and signs to also mark all confusing turns and will have course marshals posted at every potentially confusing junction. To ensure course marshals know the course inside-and-out, each one will be required to run the course at least twice before race day.
-TIMING: To provide you with a race time including your performance in your age division and the overall participant pool, we will be implementing ChronoTrack technology, the same technology used to time the Boston Marathon and the New York Marathon. Chronotrack uses a disposable radio tag embedded in your bib to provide you with your race time. The system reports an unprecedented 99.84% success rate in timing and eliminates the hassle of attaching a ChampionChip to your shoes.
-BIB PICK-UP: To ensure a smooth and timely race day morning, we will be hosting a pre-race packet pickup expo at the Council Rock High School South gymnasium just down the street from Tyler State Park.
-MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE: We are so confident that our half-marathon will run smoothly that we are guaranteeing up to $40 back to any runner who feels that the race didn’t meet his or her expectation because of an act of negligence on our part.
Our slogan this year is “motivation meets innovation”, and we mean it. Our race this year will implement new technology, tactics, and race trends that have yet to make there way into small town races.
